the Dove Advert accused of racism after its new advert
Hi,
I filmed this video below to hear about the comment on the Dove advert accused of 'racism'.
I have spoken about fifteen people in London to hear their approach. Although it is not a huge number, the people I talked to helped me to reach a conclusion. There are some voices that didn't accuse Dove for racism, but at the end, I can easily say that majority of people I've spoken on the street did consider the Dove advert as 'racist.'
Here is my piece!

The Dove advert is accused of racism after
showing a black woman ‘cleaning’ her body with its product
Personal care brand Dove published an
advertisement of a body wash with a series of ‘racist’ images that showed a
black woman turning white after using the product.
In the advert, Dove used three different
images. A black woman taking off her T-shirt and then turning white. Later on,
the same white woman turning Asian after changing her T-shirt once more.
The
main complaint was that the advert tries to say that: “You can clean your
‘black’ body with this product.”
The company received many comments
complaining that adverts like these were racist and should not be shown. After
about a week, Dove apologized, writing on Facebook: “Dove is committed to
representing the beauty of diversity. In an image we posted this week, we
missed the mark in thoughtfully representing women of colour and we deeply
regret the offense that it has caused.”
